I first saw this dude in Ibiza in August at a graffiti exhibition. After some live painting from Bristol graffer Inkie and friends there was a mini gig from Roots Manuva and later a DJ set by our eponymous protagonist Benji Boko.

The whole evening was a weird set-up - set in one of the islands poshest hotels, selling shit stencils on canvas selling to the stinking rich, with caviar and champagne at the bar. Roots Manuva had to cut 'Too Cold' short as the crowd were so shit, and he walked off after about 4 songs. But it was free entry and I'm so glad I was there for it, as I got a chance to see some awesome talent and original DJ right up close.

Down on the bill as a 'mixologist' Boko kept an audience of 16 to 65 year olds raving for at least 2 hours. His set up consisted of 2 Macbook Pros, 2 Technics decks, 2 midi keyboard, a 4 channel mixer and a hell of a lot of afro head banging!
Mr Boko spins anything and everything from Ghostbusters to Missy Elliott, and Neil Diamond to Daft Punk. Sounds awful when listed like that but I believe variety in DJing shows talent. A Brighton boy, inspired by the likes of DJ Yoda, Mr Scruff and Beardyman, Benji Boko is sure to be a success, he's already supported Yoda last NYE and has an album due out hopefully before the end of the year.
Here's a mixtape to check out while we await his album.
